Artist Statement
My artwork focuses on nature and capturing its intimate details up close. In my images nature is brought to the forefront in order for the viewer to recognize the beauty in nature which gets missed at times due to it being so small. As an artist my goal is to capture the essence of the environment in the natural world with close up images of different plant’s textures and forms. In today’s modern society it is becoming more apparent that we are disconnected from nature. When capturing detailed up close images, I want the viewer to take a second and appreciate nature and become more aware about the different plants and animals in our environment. My life as an artist has been shaped by two passions: graphic design and the exploration of painting. Growing up in a multicultural household I was influenced by Mexico's culture traveling as a child, visiting family throughout the years.
In my work I use a variety of materials and processes in each project and focus strongly on concept design and development in different contexts and media. Using Illustrator and Photoshop I also create conceptual designs primarily to communicate a message to the viewer and bring awareness to current issues that we are facing such as habitat loss and critically endangered animals.
